A House of Distinction
Heritage and origins
Founded in 2010 by Mr. Bachir Berrada, Fezcap carries forward a family tradition of headwear craftsmanship whose origins date back to Fez in 1927. More than a commercial undertaking, it embodies a true house culture, shaped by a passion for creation and an enduring sense of elegance. The story begins in Fez in 1927, when Ben Othman Berrada founded Berrada Frères alongside his brothers, M’Hammed and Abdellatif. Trained by his uncle — who had discovered the craft during an extended stay in Egypt — Ben Othman played a key role in introducing and developing the art of headwear in Fez, Morocco. From its earliest days, Berrada Frères was dedicated to the design, manufacture, and sale of headwear. Through mastery of the craft and a refined understanding of its techniques, the house gradually established itself in a world where precision, elegance, and distinction are inseparable.
Heritage and Origins
A transmitted savoir-faire
Across generations, this savoir-faire has been passed down through practice, discipline, and an openness to external influences. New forms, new materials, and new commercial horizons have enriched the house without ever compromising the artisanal rigour that remains its foundation. This balance between fidelity to tradition and the ability to evolve has become one of the defining signatures of the Berrada tradition.
A Transmitted Savoir-Faire
A house of distinction
As its activity expanded, Berrada Frères gradually broadened its creative expression. Its headwear came to embody a distinct vision of masculine elegance, while the fez established itself as an enduring emblem of refined dress. In Morocco, the house’s stature was notably affirmed through the creation of the Tarbouch Mohammed V, a model that became the preferred headpiece of the late Sovereign. His appreciation gave rise to generations of continued patronage. No longer merely a hat maker, Berrada Frères became a custodian of the Crown’s silhouette, woven into the very fabric of national identity — a legacy that endures to this day.
An opening to the world
From an early stage, Berrada Frères extended its presence beyond Morocco. In the 1950s, the house established its first commercial foothold in Dakar, Senegal, through the efforts of their brother Aziz, before gradually expanding its activities across West African markets.
An Opening to the World
The making of a master hat maker
It was within this environment that Mr. Bachir Berrada forged his mastery of the craft. Trained in the family workshop, he devoted many years to the disciplined practice and refinement of hatmaking. His savoir-faire is rooted in a house culture founded on rigour, elegance, and the continuity of tradition. Through his travels abroad, he brought back new ideas in forms, techniques, and materials, while opening new horizons for the house’s development beyond its origins.
